Nick McKeown, Stanford University
Nick McKeown is the Kleiner Perkins, Mayfield and Sequoia Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Stanford University, and Faculty Director of the Open Networking Research Center. Before joining Stanford, he worked for HP Labs (Bristol, UK) and Cisco (GSR 12000). He co-founded Abrizio, Nemo, Nicira, ONF, ON.Lab and Barefoot. Nick's a member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAAS), and the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK). He received the British Computer Society Lovelace Medal, the IEEE Kobayashi Computer and Communications Award, the ACM Sigcomm Lifetime Achievement Award, the IEEE Rice communications theory award, and has an Honorary Doctorate from ETH-Zurich. Nick's current research interests include software defined networks (SDN), network verification, video streaming, tools for networking research and teaching, and how to introduce high school students to the wonders of computer science.
